Today we had a fun outing to La Marquesa, I did some witnessing/fundraising and the kids and Andy went horseback riding. It was a very fun, fruitful day.

After witnessing we split into two teams, and we ate at Estela's place. She was so sweet and so happy to see us.

We all went to the Embassy to renew the kids passports and were sooo bored. We spent six hours there and the kids had fun with the camera. At the end we met a sweet man named Chelo who did the Boleadoras for us.

We are celebrating 2 whole years of living together!!!! The first was hectic in its own way and this past year has been full of challenges and adventure as well. We experienced what life is like living on our own and having to get jobs and quite literally take FULL RESPONSIBILITY for EVERYTHING in our lives. Its made me so thankful for Family homes and communal living.
All I can think of right now is that I am very happy, I'm happy with the life I lead, the children I have and the man in my life. I think our next year together is going to be the best yet!

I personally don't like Halloween, I don't feel that its good for children to be so aware of the dark side of the spirit world. This blog was meant as a log of activities they do and these are a couple of the activities they did for their school. I think it would be cool if we had a dress up party for the kids since the costumes is what really draws their attention. Any ideas anyone?

He was very brave going into the school all by himself. The other 3 had to wait till Tuesday to enroll. They had a little ceremony to celebrate the beginning of the new school year and he sang the national anthem with his hand over his heart like a little mexican... so cute!

Lots of things have happened since my last post. We left Saltillo the 12th of July, which means we lived in Saltillo for exactly 11 months to the day.
The trip from Saltillo to Mexico City was very exciting as usual. First we got pulled over by the police at 4 30 in the morning, half an hour later the car overheated leaving us stranded in the middle of nowhere which made me freak out (as usual). Next we got stuck in traffic somewhere in Queretaro making our planned 9 or 10 hour trip into a 13 hour one. The batteries in the camera were dead (as usual) so we couldn't get any pictures of the trip but that's ok cause we all just looked tired.
We spent 2 days with the adoptive grandparents which the kids loved cause they got more attention in those 2 days than they had in the last month.
Thursday the 15th we left to Acapulco, dropped the kids off with their dad and we went to look for a place to stay. The Lord supplied a very nice hotel room with air con! We spent the next 10 days witnessing and fund raising. It was great to see old friends and make new ones. The first time we went out to provision a meal we met a very sweet lady who knows mom from when they were here and she offered to give us one meal every day that we were there.
The rest of the trip was full of little miracles and the normal ups and downs that only happen to us, haha!
Andy and I came back to Mex City the 25th of July, and we've been job hunting ever since. Its been fun to have to write up our C Vs , go for interviews etc. He was hired as an English teacher and started work last Monday. The Lord also gave us a really cute place to live in. It's small but very cozy and the best part of it all is that we live on the top floor of a Family home so the kids can still get fellowship and have fun with other kids.
I am in the process of enrolling them in a school that is only 2 blocks away, public but PTL, you can't win'em all. The goal is to get some stable form of income and then see what private school we can afford. Private schools here are incredibly expensive so we have to take it one step at a time.
If all goes as planned (which it probably won't, so I should prepare another plan just in case) we should be able to go pick up the kids tomorrow afternoon. I've missed them so so much.

Spelling Bees

The kids participated in their schools' Spelling Bees. Both Aitana and Jazmin won first place and Sammy would have to but due to a mistake on the teachers part and her pronunciation he won third place. The director and teacher apologized to him afterward. They all did very well in studying for it. I didn't have the camera with me for Jazmin's.

These next 2 weeks will be the final exams and we could all use your prayers.

Old Folks Home

Flor met the director of an old folks home in Ramos Arizpe while out witnessing and she invited us to go sing with the kids for all the little abuelitos in the home. The kids made 35 cups of jell-o (I helped with that) and they practiced a couple songs to sing for them. They sang "Queremos presntarte a ti", "La Bamba" and "Dona Josefina".
After singing and acting out their songs they passed out Jesus posters and jell-o to all the old folks. I did the prayer with all of them and Flor read some messages from the book "From Jesus with Love" and " Vislumbres del Cielo".Then we all went around talking to them and spending time with them. Some of the old ladies were crying when we left. It was very touching!

This afternoon we celebrated Toti's 6th birthday. He wanted dinosaurs so we made him a jungle cake with dinosaurs complete with a nest and baby dinosaur eggs. We all went out together to get what we needed for the cake and everyone gave their ideas so we made it a family project. We were so concentrated on the eggs in the nest and what we could use to make them that we forgot to get him a candle.(he didn't notice TTL) After some games the kids watched the movie "Dinosaur". Easter vacations have begun!! We're having lots of fun going to different parks and having picnics. The schedule is a lot more relaxed and we're enjoying more sleep in the morning. Lord willing we're having a fun home activity on Sunday. These are the only pictures I could take before the battery died but this park was very interesting. It had a huge mountain in the middle with a staircase to get to the top(very Aztec -ish)and a slide. The kids were exhausted by the time we got home and soooo filthy. The park was very dusty but they had so much fun that I decided to ignore the dirt factor this once.

One Year... and Counting!!

Today Andy and I celebrate one year of living together. Its been an amazing year, full of miracles and adventures. We experienced the Lords protection and His supply like never before.

The day was normal taking care of kids, cleaning, cooking etc.and then at night we went out to dinner just the two of us. We talked about the year we spent together.

Four months after he came to live with us we moved from Acapulco not knowing where we were going hoping to spend some time "alone", fundraising and looking for the "perfect home". We spent a week with his family in Mexico city and on our way to Saltillo had the accident. I don't know if I'm ready to say that "if I could go through it again, I would" but I can definitely see the Lords hand in it. Because of the accident we decided to stay in Saltillo, the Lord opened doors in a very nice Christian school for the kids and He has supplied every thing we needed.

It may not seem like the ideal first year for most couples but for me its been one of the best yet. The Lord knows what we want and need better than we do ourselves. Andy has been the "best" of the year. I think that through all the different situations we have been in, I have gotten to know a side of him that I wouldn't have known any other way, and I admire and love him all the more for it. He has the self control and calm trusting attitude that I lack, he makes me laugh like only my family can, he puts in practice the saying "If I am wrong I will say so, if I am right I will shut up", he's a gentleman and makes me feel so special, he cooks for me on rest day AND parent day... what more can I say? He's everything I asked for and more.
I am incredibly blessed!!!

Today was a "special meal" day. We had Shishkebabs for lunch, and Pizza for dinner. Andy spent lots of time in the kitchen but it was worth it, the kids loved it. In the afternoon the children celebrated Jerry's birthday which was the 16th. The had cake and ice cream and a treasure hunt.I don't have pictures of the Pizza or the party sorry!

The Lord supplied free tickets to watch a baseball game, Saraperos vs Tecoloches (I'm not sure what they were called). The Saraperos are Saltillo's team and they are Mexico's baseball champions. We only stayed for about an hour as it started getting very cold and the kids were a little bored.

I've been having lots of pain in my neck and shoulders. We went to see a chiropractor and he said that with 10 sessions he thinks I could regain the natural curve my neck should have. ( Because of the whiplash in the accident my neck has the same natural degree of curvature but opposite of how it should be). According to the doctor the vertebrae that are damaged are the ones that would in the future affect my right arm. I've been having lots of pain off and on for over a month. Please pray for me as it hurts a lot and its keeping me up at night. Thank you.

We've decided on a prize system for the kids. Every time they brush their teeth without us having to remind them, they get a peso. If we have to tell them to, we take a peso back. Today was the big day and with the money they made by being faithful to brush their teeth they got themselves a big ice cream.

In January I went to spend a week with my family in Acapulco. Andy took care of the kids at home, getting them ready for school, giving them word time, get out, home work even going as far as (read carefully now) washing their thick winter jackets by hand (washing machine was broken)on Sunday so they'd be ready for school.
I didn't want to say it but (watch out here comes the mush)..

1st day Caroling

Christmas is here, yay! We went out caroling with the kids. Its getting very cold so we weren't out very long but the kids had a lot of fun. They won 15 souls and Toti did the prayer all by himself in one of the houses. I'm so proud of him. After witnessing they sang at one of our friends restaurants. There wasn't a lot of people but after singing she invited them all to dinner. For some reason all the pictures came out blurry and these were the best. Don't they look cute?

Christmas Posada 2009

On the 29th of November we held a Posada for friends. We invited over 80 people but only a few showed up. The kids sang different Christmas Carols and we had a little Power Point presentation of our work in Saltillo this past year as well as our goals for next year. Our 3 students of The 12 Foundation Stone Course graduated and they received their diplomas. It was fun to see the kids practice before their show and get all excited about performing. A home in Monterrey gave us all the outfits. I'll leave you all with a bunch of pictures. Andy isn't in them because he was the photographer for the event. Enjoy!

Daniel came to visit for the girls birthdays. Aitanas birthday was the 6th and Jazmins is the 26th so we celebrated them on the 16th. We had a BBQ and cake with a delicious jell-o something that Chelsey and I made. Sharon decorated the cake for us. The girls got MP3 players which have been a life saver. They listen to music all day and that not only keeps them quiet but they can memorise alot easier too.

My Birthday

Today was a very special day. It started with a trip to Matehuala to close the deal with the car/accident etc. Maggie and I got up before 6 in order to get to all the different places on time, its a 3 hour drive from here to Matehuala. We got to talk alot ,get to know each other etc. The Lord did lots of miracles and put very special people in our path. It was a little difficult to go back and relive everything that happened. Seeing the car and remembering it all made me so thankful that Andy, the kids and I are all alive and well.
We were in the junkyard where the car is, just going through the remains looking for a document that we thought might have been left there on accident. I went to the drivers side of the car and the metal of the roof is all dented in. There was this one piece of metal that stuck all the way down and it had a thick lock of hair stuck to it. I remembered Andy had said that he must have gotten glass in his head cause his hair was cut shorter in one place. Andy is very tall and his head almost touched the roof of the car while driving., so it was a total miracle that that piece of metal didnt sink any further or he wouldn't be here today. Just seeing that gave me goose bumps.
The man who was with us while we checked the car looked at me and said "After an accident like this, all you got is crutches?" then he pulled something out of the car, it was my old gasoline stained, moldy bible and said "This is what kept you alive". And its so true, I just cant get over the miracle.
Another interesting thing happened. While in the Ministerio Publico filling out reports etc we spent alot of time talking to the lawyer who was helping us and his secretary. We showed her the newspaper clipping of the accident and she told us she had seen the accident. She said she was traveling to Monterrey that Sunday and was in the line of cars behind our accident . Her husband asked her if she wanted to stop but when she saw so many children she said she'd rather not because she couldnt handle it. She said as they drove by she saw me sitting on the ground with a child on my lap (Toti) and the other 3 sitting next to me and I had my free arm raised, my eyes were closed and I was crying and praying out loud . Obviously I dont remember that but it was encouraging to me that in such an intense moment someone got a sample and that later I could meet her and tell her the miracle of how the Lord saved our lives that day. Both the lawyer and his secretary prayed to receive Jesus with us.
To sum it up, all the business and paperwork got done and the Lord supplied a yummy lunch before going home. The owner of the restaurant also remembered the accident and we were able to tell her the happy ending to the story.
I am still not done with the car. Eventually I will need to go to the border so please pray that nothing else comes up and we can close this chapter.
On to happy thoughts... after I got home and rested up,we had dinner with the kids and nobody said much about my birthday except for embarrasing me by singing the "Happy Birthday" song in the dining room. When we got upstairs Andy had given each one of the kids a little surprise to give me. One of the girls brought a chocolate bar, the other one brought ice cream, Sammy brought a little notepad they had bought for me at school with "their" money, (Jazmin sells little drawings at school for 2 $ and she saved the money and got the notepad at the little store in the school) and Toti brought the spoons. We ate the ice cream together and then the kids went to bed. That night Andy surprised me by setting up a little picnic in our room with wine, cheese, olives, etc. It was so special and the cool thing was he managed to surprise me! He somehow planned it all and prepared it without me realising. I felt so loved. The next day was alot of fun too. We had a rest day and Andy spoiled me by bringing me breakfast in bed and then a sushi picnic at the park and then more food but I'm not gonna write about it cause this whole post is making me sound fat. I really liked my birthday and Im so thankful for all the wonderful people who made it so special.
Oh, and if anyone has any ideas of what to do for a mans birthday please write me. Andy used up all MY good ideas on MY birthday so I dont know what to do for his.

After coming back from the doctor to get the pins and cast removed the home made a delicious fondue dinner for Fe and I. Fe turned 23 the 21st of September and I turn 29 on the 25th. The kids had a nice dinner too but they had to go to bed early in order to be up in time for school. Gia made an incredible mocca cake. Everything was perfect, the meal, the wine, the cake, the music... just perfect! We had alot of fun talking, telling jokes and just relaxing. Some people are missing in the picture but we're still a pretty small team.

(mmm... no Nat, I am not naked! Just thought I'd clear that up before you make a sassy comment)

Today I had an appointment with the doctor.He took the pins out and sent me to get an x-ray. The bones are all well aligned (thank you all so much for praying), and you could see some thread thin lines of bone connecting the fractures so he said that by December I'll be walking again. It still hurts a little but not as much as when the pins were in. I'll leave you all with pictures of my cast and the pins. The doctor thought it was funny that I wanted to keep them to show on my blog.
I have to do 4 to 6 hours of feet exercise a day and it hurts so please pray that I can stick with it.

School Days

The kids have started school. The Lord opened the door in a very nice christian school. The directors have known the Family for several years now (check out the mural in the back) and they gave us a good discount on the inscription and monthly tuition fees. The kids are happy with their new friends. Please pray for the weather though, its been raining everyday and the kids dont have any warm clothes.

Update on us!

I lost the camera in the accident so you wont be seeing many pictures of us. As a last minute update Toti got his stitches taken out last Tuesday, (9 on his tummy and 3 on his back) and Chachi will have hers (7 on the eyebrow)taken out tomorrow. Please keep praying for us, especially that the stitches wont leave scars. They seem to be healing very well. The doctor told us about Toti's stitches that although the skin heals within a week the internal stitches could take up to 2 months to heal properly.
I am doing a lot better. The Lord supplied a pair of crutches so I can get around the house easier. Ill be seeing a bone doctor and a chiropractor sometime soon so keep that in your prayers too please. Andy's bruise is almost all gone and in general we feel happy and healthy.
On a different note and another PR, I will need to go back to Matehuala sometime to work out the cars paperwork and maybe sell it at a junk yard etc. I don't know how when or where or with who so pray we can find a solution to it.

The Adventure Ends

You have probably already read the PR. But in case you didn't I'll post it here just because I dont feel like remembering all that happened again. The short version is our back left tire blew up, Andy lost control of the car, the front left wheel came off so we flipped forward and then rolled on our side 2 more times. Its a miracle we're alive!! We spent 3 days in the hospital but we're home now. Thank you for praying or us

To explain what happened in detail, as I’m sure there are many versions of the story:

We were happily driving down the road at 4 pm Sunday afternoon, minding our own business, when our rear left tire blew out, spinning the car out of control. As I tried to regain control of the car, the front left tire actually fell off of its axle, making the car flip over three times. The kids were sleeping in the back, so they flew out during the first flip, which was definitely the Lord, as had they been buckled in their seats, it could have been fatal.

Immediately after the car stopped rolling, Caro and I jumped out and ran to make sure the kids were alright. Sammy (7) was only nominally hurt with scratches and bruises, and Aitana (9) had only a sprained ankle and bumps and bruises. Jazmin (8) received a large cut over her eye from flying luggage, and some scrapes on her face. Esteban (5) at first seemed to be in delicate condition, as they suspected internal bleeding, but it was just a bad bruise on the stomach lining that obstructed the view of the internal organs which led them to believe he was bleeding internally. The first two toes on Caro’s left foot were splintered.

After rushing Caro and the kids to the hospital, I was taken to the police station to do the report, and follow the legal process. I was checked, and only had minor scrapes and bruises, which is a miracle in itself, as the driver’s side of the car is badly flattened. I spent most of that day in police custody, which the Lord turned for his good, as I got to spend the many hours that I waited in some deep personal witnessing to everybody from the police handling the accident to the people handling the legal side of things.

Thankfully, I was released from police custody at 11 pm or so, and was able to join Caro and the kids in the hospital. Miraculously, Liz and Micah were in the city at the time, their car having broken down the day before. God bless them, they were a huge blessing in taking the kids, communicating between Caro and I at the police station, etc. Without them, I don’t know what we would have done.

Another miracle is that immediately after the accident, nearly 20 people stopped, and came to check us, with 3 or 4 doctors in the crowd. One man in particular literally stuck by us all day, going to the hospital with Caro and the kids, coming to help me in the police station, even going so far as to take all our belongings that survived to Saltillo and drop them off at the Home for us. He was an angel the Lord put in our path as he knew we’d need it.

We spent the next few days in the hospital, as Esteban and Jazmin still needed to recover, and Caro’s foot being broken, she had to go through surgery on Tuesday night, but now we’re all at the Saltillo Home, happy to be alive, and recovering well.

During the whole time in the hospital, I was able to continue witnessing, and we were able to provision a very good discount on the hospital bill, which came out far lower than we expected. We were able to witness in depth to the social worker responsible for our case, the doctors involved, nurses, and many others around.

We have been so touched by the incredible love and concern shown by all that we interacted with, and the calls, prayers, and notes sent by so many of our family and friends have shown us the true spirit of love that pervades this family.

We really appreciate your prayers and support during this time, and would just like to add a few specifics to keep in mind as you intercede for us:

For Caro’s foot, which will be in a cast for the next 10 weeks, to heal properly, with no infection, minimal pain, and for her to be able to regain full use of the foot.

For the kids continued recovery, especially against scarring on Jazmin’s face, and for Esteban, that the incision on his stomach will heal properly with no complications, and for the Lord to take away any trauma or fear that they may have due to the accident

That we are able to raise the funds needed to get back on our feet, and for the Lord’s supply and replacement of all the things that were lost (Caro is especially concerned as she lost all of next year’s schoolbooks, which could mean the kids might lose time on the next school year)

Today we went to Ajusco, a park outside Mexico City, very beautiful and very cold. We had a delicious picnic lunch and then the kids ran around and Margie got a chance to get some "family pictures" hehe!

After singing all morning and saying bye to our friends we got home packed the car and got ready for our 4 hour drive to Cuernavaca. We stopped in Chilpancingo and provisioned a yummy snack/dinner at Burger King. We got to Chris and Nat's home around 9 that night and the kids had a lot of fun watching videos, dressing up and just being loud.

We are leaving Acapulco! The Lord supplied a nice buffet breakfast at a hotel as a bye bye thingy. The pictures are blurry but I had to put them up cause Andy looks so happy... I have no idea why. Please pray for our trips. We'll be spending some time in Mexico City before moving to Saltillo and from there continue our home hunting. Thank you for praying for us!

Parque Papagayo

Para este dia en familia los ninos decidieron que preferian ir al parque Papagayo. Este parque tiene una especie de zoologico muy sencillo. Los ninos llevaron comida para peces que alguien habia dejado en casa y se la dimos a las tortugas y peces que habia en una laguna. Al principio solo habia un par de tortugas pero al cabo de un rato se lleno de peces y los ninos llegaron a contar 18 tortugas. En el zoologico habia un leon durmiendo (obviamente). Tambien le dieron de comer a unos ciervos.

Antes de irnos a la frontera de viaje de fe nuevamente por 3 semanas salimos a desayunar con los ninos. Los padres de Andy nos enviaron un pequeno regalito por el dia de la madre y decidimos salir en familia. Encontramos un hotel en la costera con desayuno buffet. Las fotos salieron borrosas .. lo siento!

Esta temporada navidena los ninos pudieron salir en un par de ocasiones a testificar y ganar almas. Tambien me acompanaron en un show de titeres que hicimos para un centro de ninos del DIF. Cantaron villancicos y ayudaron a distribuir los libros que llevamos de regalo.

Un dia Sammy entro al comedor con una linda sorpresa en la mano.... Un escorpion!!!... Alacran... como quieran llamarlo. Se me congelo la sangre!!! Los ninos querian quedarselo como mascota, ha! Despues de hacer un estudio sobre los escorpiones y su veneno lo liberamos.

Seminario de Educadores 12 de Oct... Baja California

Del 12 al 19 de Octubre Laura y yo pudimos participar de un Seminario para Educadores que se realizo en Ensenada, Baja California. Fue una experiencia inolvidable. Eramos 182 profesores de Norte y Centroamerica. Fue una semana muy intensa llena de clases, talleres y ademas mucha diversion. Pude ver a mis hermanas Natalia, Irene y Clara que viven en Cuernavaca, Mexico y Baja California respectivamente. Los dejo con una fotos.....

Matamoros

La camioneta que vendimos. Tristemente no tengo fotos de la que compramos, pero es del mismo color.

La cena que el Senor suplio el dia de mi cumpleanos.

Con unos amigos de la iglesia donde cantamos.

Pasamos 2 dias en S Padre Island, nunca olvidaremos los mosquitos. Los chicos sufrieron mucho para tomarse esa foto.

No tengo fotos de cuando hicimos busking, pero esos son los trajes que usamos.

El dia que llegamos aprovisionamos un rico cafe.

Del 17 de Septiembre al 7 de Octubre, David, Stephy, Marcos y yo estuvimos de viaje de fe en la frontera con EE UU. Paramos en casa de Amor (mama de Stephy). El Senor hizo muchisimos milagros grandes y pequenos. La finalidad del viaje era vender una camioneta que teniamos, conseguir otra y a la vez juntar fondos para el hogar. Aunque a veces parecia que no ibamos a llegar a la meta el Senor lo hizo y de formas muy inesperadas. Tuvimos oportunidad de cantar en una iglesia, nunca lo habia hecho antes y me sorprendio lo bien que nos recibieron. Visitamos S Padre Island, comimos como reyes y la pasamos super bien.

Despues del fin semana largo (Dia de Independencia de Mexico) me voy de viaje de fe. El Senor suplio un rico desayuno de despedida en un hotel muy bonito. Vino Laura con nosotros y los ninos probaron un tipico desayuno mexicano. Por algun motivo no puedo subir las fotos.... otro dia lo hare.

Vinieron Sam y Esther junto con su hijito Danny de visita. Pasaron una semana en casa y los ninos tuvieron oportunidad de ir a la playa con ellos. Pudieron andar a caballo, juntar caracoles etc. Aqui hay unas fotos de esos dias.

Creo que falle!!
Saque unas fotos de los ninos con sus amiguitos, y ahora mi dulce y fiel computadora no prende. Asi que todas las fotos estan guardaditas ahi esperando que venga una caballero y me rescate de este desastre.
A proposito la semana pasada nos visitaron Jon y Flor y sus hijos. Los ninos la pasaron muy bien, fuimos a la playa juntos y tuvimos unos dias de mucha diversion.
(Si alguno de uds genios de la computadora lee esto... si, ya me asegure que la computadora este bien conectada a la corriente).

No se como Clara me convencio de que hiciera esto, pero aqui esta.
